Passion for Cakes – Vendors I Trust

Who doesn’t love cake? I am sure there is someone out there who truly doesn’t like cake, but they are in the minority. I myself love cake, and would eat it every day if it were healthier. I’ve always loved to bake (and cook) and was very proud of myself for making my first ice cream cake from scratch last month. But enough bragging about my abilities in the kitchen, for this instalment of Vendors I Trust I got in touch with Corina from Passion for Cakes, someone who really knows how to bake. I’ve met Corina a handful of times over the last few years and love her work! It’s delicious! She is a sweetheart through and through, so without further ado let’s see what she has to say.

Why the name Passion for Cakes?

I started baking at a very young age – helping make Christmas cookies with my mom, birthday cakes for our family, and experimenting with recipes. As I grew older, I combined my passion for baking with a career in graphic design. When creating my brand, I wanted something that echoed my passion for baking, was short, easy, and had a descriptive domain name. Passionforcakes.com was a perfect fit!

What is your process when meeting with new clients?

I love working with clients that are looking for something truly one of a kind. We discuss their overall vision and work together to create a cake that highlights elements from their wedding theme and personal style. By ensuring all the details are taken care of in advance, the bride and groom are left with a day to truly enjoy.

How far in advance should couples start meeting with you?

Usually I meet with couples about 6 months before their wedding and take bookings up to one year in advance. Summer and fall tend to be my busiest seasons with many outdoor west coast weddings. Booking early is important, as I only create and deliver 1 cake order per day. This ensures that every wedding couple receives my undivided attention.

How do you stay inspired?

Most of my creativity comes from design, architecture, fashion and art. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to many countries with my mother who worked as a flight attendant – visiting art museums, designer chocolate shops and quaint bakeries around the world. I always look to add an artistic flair to reflect the clients vision and wedding theme.

What sets you apart from other cake vendors?

Without having a traditional store front I’m able specialize and focus on a limited number of clients. Couples aren’t buying a cake off the shelf, they’re ordering a custom work of art that’s been designed and created especially for them. All orders also include delivery, flavors and fillings of their choice and digital photos of their cake. One couple came to me as no traditional bakery would bake their grandmothers cake recipe for their wedding cake. I’ve created a suitcase wedding cakea wild safari wedding cakea tugboat cake and a six tiered red velvet damask cake – all cakes you won’t find at a typical bakery. People come to passionforcakes.com if they are looking for something truly custom and a unique.
