When I was a kid my families summer vacations were often “River Trips.” As with many things, it was only when I grew up that I realized I was an outlier in having these experiences. A “River Trip,” broadly defined, is like car camping, but instead of cars you have inflatable rafts, along with some smaller “play boats.” Once my daughter was old enough I was delighted to restart this family tradition with my cousins – the same girls I remember taking these trip with as a kid. In 2018 we redid a stretch of the Klamath River in Northern California and it was great fun to get to see my family again, and watch my daughter and cousin’s kids fully embrace being “river rats.” Here is the the next generation of boaters.
